Unfortunately I live in San Antonio and I don’t believe any truck is safe. My question comes up because my last F-150 and current F-250 ( just broke into today), were broken into by low life scum, but it seems too easy on a Ford. They open the door handle exposing the lock cylinder, use pliers to simply twist cylinder and boom, they are in. Funny thing about the last 2 break ins, my truck was surrounded by all other brands of trucks and they didn’t touch them. I did have a Silverado broken into but they had to break the window to get into that one. What’s up with Ford and how easy they make it to break in? I’m gonna leave my chit unlocked from now on. I hate thieves!

I spent a few minutes on Youtube to figure out how to break into my 2016 F150 after I locked the keys in it while it was running

A spark plug and a rubber band. I can break into any vehicle in about 2 seconds.

I have broken into my own Silverado. Easy to pull open the snugtop back window and then a common screwdriver pops open the sliding back window. easy-peasy.

May you be treated the way you treat other people, today and everyday!

If you know how to use a "Slim Jim" then none of them are hard to get into. sarcastic

Less than a minute to open any of them and if you familiarize yourself them then closer to 10-20 seconds. hammer

If you are "breaking" in one and not worried about breaking something then a glass breaker would be pretty quick as well. whip

Doesn't matter what brand truck you have if they want in they'll get in.

I worked as an insurance adjuster in San Antonio a few years back after a hail storm. A lot of us adjusters were staying at a candle wood on a long culdesac. Five F250’s disappeared in week. The police said it was the choice vehicle of the cartels in Mexico. He said by the time the theft was called in they were usually already across the border.

Good Luck with your F250.

Sorry to hear Minner, hopefully nothing important was stolen from your truck.

This is one of the times where having a lower trim package seems to have an advantage, I guess thieves don’t want to break into the poor boy models.

I guess people look at my truck and figure I don't have anything worth stealing.

Here in San Marcos Fords are broken into at a much higher rate. The deal here is almost always a white ford. I think they are maximizing their profits because the white fords are usually guys traveling for work and they tend to have laptops and guns in them. On the F250 thing we would often get a report and when putting the vehicle in the system we get a delayed hit on the vehicle already crossing over the border. As far as brands though they are all susceptible.

That's a little disconcerting reading all this.

So how about an inline toggle switch to prevent starting? Can something like that be installed? It would have to be unique to your truck.

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

They got about $2 in change and a small floor jack. I’ve at least learned not to leave anything of value in there and hide my wheel lock where they will never find it. This latest lesson just taught me to leave it unlocked so they don’t damage my door handle next time.
