I'm in Colorado for 2 more weeks on a geology field camp class for Texas Tech University, i have been fishing the arkansas hear in town with no luck at all. lots of rain in the mountains and its like chocolate milk. Yesterday hiked up to the south colony lakes on mount Humboldt and it was great fishing although it was 8 miles up the trail to get there, caught more than i could keep track of small 6-13 inch cutthroat. I would like to catch something bigger but any lakes that produce like that would be great too. this coming weekend is my last opportunity to catch some fish. any secret hike to lakes or rivers or streams that might be sheltered from the run off that you guys can suggest within 1.5-2 hours? please and thank you.
