Lews Super Duty wide spool or the Lews BB1 pro are fantastic for a Carolina rig.

Sounds like Lews is the winner. I use a Tatula (because it fits my hand well) and a Curado K on my back up. All work well. That said, I started back in the day with Ambassadeur 5500/6500's and those worked great too. I can't say that the reels have changed the number of hookups, but it is fun to have new toys.

I have just about every model of Lew's made I think, and I love the Tournament Pro Speed Spool for all heavy bait casting, and especially on a Crig setup. This ^^^ The Lews IM8 medium heavy rods well work well with the above mentioned reels, I also like the lews laser reels
