Me and my wife are meeting our middle daughter and her two boys next month for a week. Rented a condo at the Holiday Vacation Club in Flint, Tx. Any places around there you all recommend to eat? Preferably bbq, burgers, catfish, etc. Also thinking about bringing my bass boat over there. I know it will be hot but thought about fishing early morning and late afternoons. Donโt know anything about the lake. Is it worth pulling my boat that far to fish Palestine? Thanks for your replies.

Wades Place in nearby Chandler has the best seafood this side of the Gulf.

The Smoke Monkey on 155 headed towards Tyler has some good bbq. Their brisket and sausage are pretty good. It can be hit or miss but when it is good, it is good. It is on the Flint side near the Brookshires.

Purple Pig closed at the original location which is now occupied by Smoke Monkey. Tgere is a site about a mile north with a sign saying it will be the new home of the Purple Pig. Meanwhile, there is a Purple Pig location open and running on Paluxy Drive in Tyler just south of Grande. Same owners as I understand it
