I’ve had good luck in the morning around 7:30-9:30 by the bluffs straight west of McCowan park. Might check there early in the AM.

Let us know how you do. I was thinking about taking my boys Saturday morning. We usually go to Waco, but it's been slow for us the past couple of weeks. Thank you.

We were out there last weekend after 11 am on Sunday. Most of the schools we saw were up and down pretty quick. The ones by the State Park ramp stayed up the longest, late afternoon, and ran out toward the lake. Mix of sandies and smallish stripers(no keeper stripers-lots of 15 and 16 inchers) Late evening there was a lot of action by the island, west side, but mostly small sandies-10 to 12 inchers. Caught em on chrome poppers and silver slabs. We'll be back this weekend. good luck

Corp of engineers site says Whitney is still closed due to flooding. But Friday, July 17 we were on the lake via Whitney marina and McCown ramp open and campers,RV in the park. What's Up??

Corps of Engineers is bad about keeping info updated. refer to https://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/whitney/ . Lake is open.

as far as I know all of lake whitney is fully open now; went fishing thursday, was too windy to troll or look for sandies, but blue cat bite was awesome

Great thanks. Yes, McCown open. Cross our fingers and hooks that we can catch some for a change. Be careful it is really HOT.
