 5G AT&T worse then LTE…

At same location, iPhone would get LTE 4-bars with excellent performance. Now, at the same location, it gets 5G 1-bar and performance is poor. Anyone else share this experience?

My neighbor works for AT&T and said that 5G is only "good" if you are perfectly lined up with their antenna and it has a really short range of effectiveness. 4G has a broader range so is more effective further away.

I just upgraded to a 12 from a decade old 6 and the 6 makes this 12 look like a 1...……..

My neighbor works for AT&T and said that 5G is only "good" if you are perfectly lined up with their antenna and it has a really short range of effectiveness. 4G has a broader range so is more effective further away. Yeah, it's a total line of sight kind of deal. At the frequency that 5G operates at, you need to have antennas like every 100 yards or something like that. If you're more than a couple hundred yards from an antenna, you pretty much have nothing on your signal.

I was in North Richland Hills a few months back on a Saturday morning. My phone automatically connects to 5G when it is available. I noticed it was in 5G mode and I ran a speed test and it came up with a 187m down. Later in the day the speed dropped to 52m down which is still faster than 4G. I don't have any problem with either. It is an Apple 12 mini

just got a free samsung s21 5g from Tmobile, so far it kicks azz over the s10 I traded in. whole lot faster even on 4g, 4g here at the ranch is stronger by a bar (5 vs. 4 when outside). gotta luv technology!

I went from a S10+ to a S21 Ultra 5G and the new phone is heads and shoulders above the older one.  AT&T is the best carrier around here and the complaints I here about it are the same complaints I here about Verizon.

Lol! Everyone is getting on this train not realizing there are very few 5G towers, on your phone you need to change the setting to 4G, or whatever, until they build more 5G towers.

I was on ATT because my last company paid for it. It sucked. Couldn’t get reception in my home office, which is two blocks from an ATT service center. Switched to Verizon two years ago and get much better reception in my house, and several other places I frequently visit.

Our AT&T service sucks here too. Verizon was much better.
