Just saw Barlows is closing down their retail business and going online only. Said this Saturday they’re having a closing sale, with up to 50% off. Sounds like they’re selling everything including shelving and displays. Good time to pick up some rod racks.

When does this start?
Is the in-store sale going on now?

Got my answers off Facebook.
Sale Sat. 12 to 4.
Nothing from the back; so they want last long.

Their Facebook page states the below.

Barlow’s Tackle, is closing our retail store and focusing on our internet/mail order business. In doing so we need to sell some items that we do not sell on our website. We will be open this Saturday, July 24th from 12pm to 4pm. The items below will be sold for 50% off. We do not have a credit card machine any longer so this sale will be CASH ONLY. Not all items in the store will be on sale or for sale. We will not be filling orders or getting items from the back that are not part of the sale.
Here is a list of some of the items we will have for sale.
Rods – Including Loomis, Daiwa and others. This includes many surf rods.
Reels – Not many but we do have a few.
Plano Tackle Boxes
Shirts
Fly Boxes and Fly Lines
Weights, Hooks and Bobbers.
Mepps and Roostertail Spinners
Store fixtures including Show cases, Rod Racks and shelves.
Again…this is a CASH ONLY sale. All sales are final.

Covid was a good opportunity for them to kill the walk in business that was more than likely a liability.

Hopefully the employees that supported the retail side got to keep their jobs.

I met Bill Dance there back in the early 80s when they had their place on the other side of the highway.

Lots of good memories.

They still have their jobs. All of the store guys worked the back end too. We have actually been so busy since Covid started that we hired more people.

Late 70's- early80's I would drive from Irving every spring to buy spinner baits. They would make them up while I bought more worms than I really needed. Great memories.

This is true. We are basically selling everything in our store that we do not have listed on our website.
We will not be selling anything from the website and will not be filling orders.

Here is a list of some of the items we will be selling on Saturday.

Rods...including Surf rods, some fly rods, G Loomis rods, and we have a few Bonehead Crappie Spinning rods.
Some Spinning Reels including some surf rod reels.
Tackle Boxes and Fly Boxes
Shirts and caps
Lead weights and sinkers, hooks and bobbers
Glass counter/display cases
Rod Racks...this seems to be the most asked about item.

Pictures Below

All items will be on a first come first serve basis. All sales will be CASH ONLY.
