Howdy just updating , I bought myself a Jackson bite fd be out fishing a couple of times small lakes State Parks just got in from Tyler SP I've notice how stelth you come up on an area it seems you catch fish easier , I was paddling over the top of fish and not realier spooking them and it's way more relaxing Now I just need to figure out a few thing
QUESTION - does lenght of rod matter or is it just a shorter handle not get in the way so it seems easier?
Thanks for any responses

Thanks for any responses I fished 6-6 to 7-6 rods when I had a bass boat. When I switched to a kayak, I gravitated toward only 6-6 rods (and a small ultralight for crappie). I feel that the shorter rod is easier to cast from a sitting position. I realize that I give up some cast reach and hook-up leverage... However, I feel that accurate lure placement more than makes up for this. I know others fish with longer rods... this is simply what I settled on. At the end of the day, it's what you are comfortable with.

Trying to fish from a kayak in any kind of wind sucks! Anyone who denies it is just trying to make themselves feel better for spending all that money on a yak. If you can’t have a bass boat, a pond prowler type boat with a trolling motor is the way to go! You can sit high on a swivel seat, lots of room for your stuff, and you can throw a little wake behind you with a nice trolling motor.

Yes, it really sucks trying to fish from a kayak when you don't know how to or where to fish, on windy days, especially if you're wanting to "throw a little wake behind you" while keeping your azz dry!

You get out of it what you put into it!

But, if the wind has driven the shad into the nervous shallows and the stripers are driving and the seagulls are screaming and you're sitting there all by your lonesome in your yak, you'll find yourself giving thanks to that same wind you were cursing earlier.

That's great if you fish ponds and want to hop on over to another one! The guy in the second picture had to really try hard for that to happen. I prefer one kayak that paddles well and can be used in pretty much all situations... shallow water, stumpy water, grassy water, windy weather, rainy weather, moving current, ocean surf, ocean inlets and rivers. Probably won't ever run into you hopping ponds... unless I'm bank fishing. Different strokes for different folks.... wouldn't want to use a paddle on either of those two mules... wouldn't want to try loading either on my vehicle either. Don't believe I ever came across a pond hopper when I fished out of Haulover Inlet.

I love kayak fishing but there are times I would kill for a motor.

I love kayak fishing but there are times I would kill for a motor. Both have pros and cons. Having experience in both, I prefer a kayak. FYI... the cons of a motor are expensive, time-consuming and frustrating.
