First let me say I am a gear enthusiast. I love my NRX and Shimano. Having said that I was wondering if anyone has held or fished the new Googan Rods?

I have several friends asking and I wanted some feedback. I personally think Googan products suck for the most part.

Having said that any time a company comes out with something new I try to keep an open mind and and I try not to rip on a new product if I haven’t used.

And I am well aware that you can catch a PB Bass on a push bottom rod and reel from the 70s. I have no desire personally to fish with cheap equipment if I have a choice. Who wants to drive a Honda civic when you can drive a Ferrari. But a lot of people don’t have Ferrari money. Myself included. I would just rather have a few bad [censored] things and a whole bunch of okay things.

Anyways enough said thoughts?

I’m sure it is some rebranded rod that you could buy for cheaper. I highly doubt they bought the supplies and built a blank that is actually their own. Just like the other stuff they sell….

This stuff is to get their name out there. I’d be surprised if any of those guys know how to build a rod. I remember one of lunkers tv first videos on here… he was hung and snapped a shimano rod by literally pulling on it until it broke. He actually blamed the rod for breaking! Then proceeded to bash the rod for ultimately snapping it it… blew my mind.

I tried one and it took the curve right out of my ball caps bill!

Doesn't surprise me.

They've done this with all of their products, copy, rebrand, sell.

Just have to find out whose blanks they are using.

Did it make your sunglasses White as well?

I'm not against trying new product but there is a reason that Falcon, Dobyns, shimano, etc have stayed at or near the top of the game for a long time.
I pretty much have stayed with Falcon over the last 30 years but have a few Dobyns, Loomis, etc in the mix as well. Most of my non- Falcon rods I have won as prizes.
Googan rods will not be a sought after product in my boat....

As much as I love a good flat bill joke I think the Googans are the opposite end of the spectrum! If anything they have TOO MUCH curve in their hat bills

A buddy of mine is a Googan fanboy trying to get on "the team."
I tried his gold series rod. It felt like any other $100 rod. It reminded me of the early 13Fishing Fate Chrome.

I'm sure it's worth the money but it's not "amazeballs" as the kids say.

I don't know, I wont spend a penny on their stuff.

Those kids got a pocket full of hundies fo sho

All joking aside but they have made millions of dollars already with no signs of slowing down.
