I absolutely love my fryer and want to use it more but it's such a pain. Or at least the way I do it is. After a cook,I drain it completely wipe it all down then but a light coat of oil back on to keep it from rusting.

How do you guys do it? Surely there is an easier way. If I'm going to fry some wings it take way more time to clean it all up than to cook the wings or small batch of fish.

Thanks!!!!

Wow, what a PITA! When I'm finished, I shut it down cover it and forget about it. I use it at least a couple of times per month and swap out the oil every 4-5 cooks. Been doing it this way for 30+ years with no issues. If I felt that I had to clean it every use, I'd deposit it in the nearest dumpster.

I have 3 of the 8 1/2 gallon 3 baskets I only clean them out after a large fry. I will strain the oil thru a filter and reuse the oil. I will rinse them out with a hose and dry them out with a towel and store them in the shed .If I can I will put the oil in a refrigerator to keep good .I have done like Cmack and have good success but i just don't fry as much anymore. Mine seem to have a good oil on metal and not oil them down just make sure they are good and dry.
1 trick I use for the oil before I reuse is cook a batch of fresh cut fries or I will fry several pieces of light bread in the oil and it will freshen up your oil and take the smell out and have fresh oil to cook with. Love cooking in my RV fryers they are well built and do a great job.

Ditto. It tastes the same.
