I’ve always used the ugly stik white Striper rod but that damn end on the rod handle makes it dang near impossible to get out of a rod holder. What are you guys using ?

I use the Ugly Stick Gx2, I have mostly 7’ MH and two 7’M. I like these, they have worked well for me. I prefer the MH, I thought maybe the M would be better for using circle hooks, then I decided I didn’t like circle hooks anyway, and went back to the regular octopus hooks.

I use the GX2 rod as well. I buy the spinning combo, use the reel for a year, throw it away and keep the rod. I mostly use circle hooks though. For round reels I use a 6’ m action because my 6 and 8 year old use those…

I use reels with clickers or set my others on free spool. Never have a problem getting rods out of holders. I was drift fishing Texoma with 8 to 10" gizzards and accidently engaged the spool putting the rod in the holder. A big striper hit hard and snapped the rod holder off at the base. Now I always check the spool. I would have loved to see that fish. It was unfortunate that it was moving in to the wind.

I've used all sorts and still not found one that I just love. But, it is a straight line live bait rod so I guess I loving it doesn't really have to be a thing. I used my M action Pro Anglers but got tired of switching rigs from Striper to Catfish so I went and bought 8 of those yellow H20 rods. They do the job but they're not that cool. I'd like to check out the Uglystik GX2 BWC 7'0 M. I liked the old version of that rod for straight lining shad. I have a buddy who runs the 6'6 Ugly Tiger Elite MH and he swears by those.

Love my Ugly Stik GX2 7 foot. Medium to Medium Heavy. Easy to find, only $39 or so. And dang near unbreakable!

I went with 4 7’6” GX2 ML and 4 7’ft med GX2, paired with Shimano Cardiff reels. Really like they way they feel. Thanks for the recommendations

I think you will like them, those are some nice rigs you have.

I wish the tips were a little bit softer but I think they will work.

Brandon Have you been using the Shimano Cardiff reels for a while? I have always liked Abu C4 but not a fan of the move out of Sweden.
