Anyone ever caught crappie on live grasshoppers? There's a good crop hopping around my neighborhood this year.

Yup! Used to do it all the time while fishing for perch in my uncles pond. Crappie eat more bugs than most realize.

Yep, proved that as a kid and later on the Red River catfishing. I’ve seen 30/40 lb. blues caught on yellow grasshoppers. Yeah, I had to see that to believe it too.

Caught Bluegill on them but never a crappie. I am sure a hungry crappie would not turn one away. hooked
