I read on txpw that now you have to have a floating marker buoy that is not orange and gear tag .I know what the gear tag is but it says the marker buoy has to be ttached to the minnow trap and the gear tag attached to it but what do they mean.by marker buoy ?

They are saying you need to attach a length of line or rope to the trap that is long enough to reach the surface when floated by a buoy marker of some sort.

Like a jug or hunk of Styrofoam. I think the idea is to mark traps for swimmers and boats, while also ensuring its unlikely you will forget where you put your trap. Would be a shame if you forgot and an unattended trap just caught fish on end... a waste you know?
