Heavy Cover spinnerbaits. Where are you buying the Heavy Covers. Eric sold that business off and the company went belly-up after that from what I understand. I sure miss his baits though.

Nichols has been a good one for me. Hildebrandt has been great for catching some big fish but they will break after some abuse.

Some of you are asking for your cake and wanting to eat it too. The thinner wire that Hildebrandt and some others use give the bait more vibration. That obviously makes it more prone to bending and breaking wire. One of the toughest spinnerbaits made is Oldham's. He uses heavy wire for the frame and a Gammy Siwash hook. It also has a screwlock keeper to hold your trailers. This is a staple for all the guys that go to Baccarac because it holds up well. http://www.oldhamjigs.com/index.html

I know guys who specifically throw the cheapos because the thinner wire vibrates more.

S.O.B.’s…Ryan Coleman (Spot Sticker Baits) still builds them. He has changed the design a bit, doing away with the bent arm, but will build them however you want, including the bent arm and twisted eye.

If you want a spinner bait that is durable w/ quality components look no further than: https://www.reddirtbaits.com/Shop/Detail/12They use a 70% titanium wire that thumps, flexes, etc. I have several of their blades that have lasted many a thrashing through trees, rocks, etc.

Check out BumperStumper pro series. I've never had any problems. They are based in Lewisville and he'll even make custom colors for you.

Don Harpers are tough too. I have used both.
