Launching at IDB or Jordan for first time with friends to fish with a Pontoon boat soon on weekday. Home lake is Lewisville. I understand that Buck Creek and north in east branch of lake is a tree / stump field from reading older posts. I know the lake like Lew is full and can hide those hazards. Is the West branch of the lake more favorable to avoiding those hazards or launching from say RR marina? Just don't want to spend the day worrying about hidden hazards while trying to fish. We have no trolling motor.

Any information is much appreciated fellas. Thanks.

The Timber is clearly marked with Telephone Poles, go to the Parks and Wildlife web site for brush pile gps coordinates if your fishing for crappie or bass as they will hold both.

And 98% of the brush piles are in the areas where they cleared the timber.

What do you want to fish for? No trolling motor is going to be tough.

Text me though and I’ll try and help you with what I know.

Telephone poles only mark the start of timber in a few coves. Anything beyond Wolf Island is not marked that I know of.

Anything from Wolf Island North is run w/ caution. You should only run it if you're very certain you have a lane. I have several spots in my runs where I slow down and idle and I've lived on this lake for 2 years now.
