This one maybe a Ford vs Chevy question. I went through and looked at where pro's put them, didn't help.
I have both of mine to the right of my trolling motor pedal. I think it is as much getting used to where they are as which place!!
Good luck!

I don't think you can go wrong with this one but I figured there may be a few good points/opinions around placement. For example, if both are on the same side as where the trolling motor bracket is, will that be an issue with crowding? Do you have a tendency to accidentally hit the wrong button if they're side by side? If I'm laying across the front of the deck to grab a branch or retrieve a stuck lure, will they accidentally get in the way? I know....over thinking a pretty simple decision but just giving it some though before I drill the holes.

Good luck! Same here. I put them on the right side because I have a friend with them on the port side and his rods bounced under the trolling motor going across the lake. They eventually hit the down button. Lol.

I have them on the left side as far forward as they'll go. It's easier for people stepping off of the dock onto the boat to have a clear path on the starboard side. I fish with my dad a lot, and his balance and knees aren't as good as they used to be.

I have mine split, one on each side, I like that setup but again I think it is more personal preference and getting used to it. I decided to do it that way so I did not have to look down to hit the correct one and it has worked well for me.

Small remote with lanyard around the neck. I bought the foot controls thinking I would use them & have not even mounted them. For sale if any one is interested.
Reality. What a concept!

I have the lanyard but I hate wearing it around my neck all day. It IS very useful though. Good to have when backing the boat into the garage and need to lower poles to get in. Lanyard keeps you from having to get out of car. I definitely like the idea of keeping the starboard side clear for stepping on/off the boat. However, didn't think about rods inching their way up the left side and accidentally hitting a button!

I had this same question before I installed mine. So I stood on the bow of the boat with a rod in hand and acted like I was fishing, using the trolling motor an such. Then looked at where it was most convenient to place them and where they would be out of the way as well. This is totally up to where you prefer. I ended up with both on the right side, but I've seen them a million different ways. I bet you ask 20 people and you'll get 18 different responses. Before screwing them down, try placing them in different spots and see what you think. Just do what is comfortable to you.

I have them both on the left side of the TM pedal tray with arrows pointing the way I want them to go when pressed LOL I have had zero issues with this.

You could put them in the rod box and I'd still find a way to step on them by accident.

My boat that I have now does not have a lot of room up front, especially with double stacked 12's, I have used the lanyard for the past two years, thinking about just keeping it that way even on my new boat.

You guys talking about the lanyards reminded me of a story. Last year I had a center console for a while, single power pole and I used the lanyard. My buddy was in the back on Toledo Bend and I would say "Alexa Power Pole down" and hit the button. About the 4th time he said man you got a @#%$## Alexa in here, heck yeah buddy it's a 2020 boat! Next time I said that I held the remote up where he could see it, I may have been cussed!!!!!

I have done the split and all on left side. Rods butts are a consideration. I don't think I really care where they are.
Also agree when loading into the boat I like a clear path.
