They're presently clearing large stands of trees along I 30 . I'm talking about large areas of 30-40 ' pine trees reduced to bare soil within 24 hours . Where can I hire / rent one of these machines and how much ?

If you have ever cleared land in the past, these things are amazing to just sit and watch!

Yep... more like 350 an hour..

The math works out if you have enough acreage.

had this one out about 4 yrs. ago, things eat trees in seconds, also had the skid steer size out with it. the amount of stuff they can clear and how fast they do it is wild.

Hop,

Did you run it yourself, or hire a service?

I can rent one on a Bobcat out of Cedar Hill for $1,000/day, but I have to learn how to run it, etc.

I'm glad there are wine drinkers in this world ..... it saves more beer for the rest of us.

no, owner sent one of his operators for a few days between jobs.

I could have run the skid steer one but no need to, cleared a lot of fence line and one large field.

If you use those on cedars, you'll have cedar mulch left behind that will take forever to go away.

And if used on a Mesquite you will have a nasty bush come back way worse than the tree was.

Most people think that mulching is a "one and done" treatment. The fact is, mulching opens everything up so you can maintain it easier with less expensive equipment. (tractors, lawn mowers, herbicide, ect). Stuff is going to grow back.
