Well, since I worked on Monday, I thought I would talk my holiday hours today and of course spend them on the lake. Went north and caught bait. There were millions of small threads up in shallow water. Everytime my net hit the water, they would jump for 20 or 30 feet in every direction. Thank goodness they were small enough to go through the net and not get stuck. I netted enough gizzards to get started and I set up to drift the flats there near Brockdale. Not a bite. Moved south to ramp at Collin park, marked plenty of fish, drifted along the western shore through lots of fish. Nothing. Headed east, thought I would try Ticky Creek. Deep water was empty, when I got up to around 20' I started seeing fish. The farther into the inlet I went, the more fish I marked. Surveyed up to about 15' and they started to thin out. I turned back and set up at the 20' mark and started drifting back in. Sky was mostly cloudy and the wind was up. Spitting a little rain now and then. Water was cooler than on the west side. About 83 degrees on the surface. Started drifting with the Parks Planer Boards out and wham. Planer board on the starboard side goes down. Boated a nice 5 pounder. Baited back up and got the board back out. Waited about 15 minutes and bam! Next rod goes down. Better fish, pulling drag. Boated a nice 20 pounder! Just got her turned loose and another rod goes down! Boated a 15 pounder. It was getting to be late morning but I thought I would run that drift one more time. I did and about 20 minutes in, boated a nice 10 pounder. Great morning! Not saying the spawn is over but it sure felt like it today!

By the way, if anybody sees a neon green Parks Planer Board floating around in the Ticky Creek area, I lost one yesterday. I broke off and wanted to finish the drift since I was catching fish. I figured I'd go back for it when I reeled up. Went looking for it and couldn't find it. Guess I'll be needing another pair...or 2.

I’ve lost 4 sets of boards over the last 6 yrs. I’ve had em blow out but I usually forget to go back and get them after breaking off. I had a ski boat pick one up while I was drifting about 150 yrds from it. Would love to have given that a hole a piece of my mind. Me and Jax are a little sick this morning so we’re fishing Sunday.

I'm not out there this morning either Chris. Since I was out yesterday and Wyatt's momma is at work today, we stayed home to help herd the cats...Maybe tonight or tomorrow...
