Has anyone fished the Trinity near the new ramp on Hebron? Im curious to know the average depth and how the fishing was. This is the section of the river that I am curious about... https://goo.gl/maps/YRzAEaEp9djaxGpi9Thanks!

Last few times I have been down there they had it locked up with a yellow gate. I am assuming this was possibly for safety measures if they have been releasing a lot of water. Been a week since the last time I went by there.
Now, all 3 times I went by were at night to try and catch bait. So possibly they close it at night?

I was there about 2 weeks ago and the gates were open, but the water was high.
I am hopeful (assuming) that the water has subsided. Sounds like I need to stop assuming and run by after work today to check it out... LOL

It is open now. Water is still high. I have not had much luck when like this. When it goes back down it will be better.

yea, I drove by Friday after work and saw that the water is still really high. I will wait it out and give it a try when the water goes down. I have had decent luck at the Sandy Lake Road ramp and am hopeful that this section will produce as well. I like the Trinity in the summer because you almost always have a shady bank to get out of the sun.
I ended up going to Grapevine (Twin Coves). It was brutal....Hot, windy, and no fish. ugh.

Hey Mike, have you launched and fished at the kayak ramp at Hebron and Lakepoint? Just curious if it was any good in there. Thinking about taking my son on my tandem yak to throw some lures around.

Not yet... as of last week, the water was still very high. The launching dock was not accessible. You could launch from the bank/sidewalk, but the water did not look inviting... a lot of extra acreage for the fish to hide in. I plan to hit this section of the river once the water goes down to a normal level.

Their is a kayak launch there. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/07/full-36211-103522-hebron_kayak_launch.jpg)

Sorry for the confusion... nope, haven't been there either. If you hit it, let me know how it goes! From google, this appears to be a promising urban spot. The piers to the north look like a great spot to start.

The piers are the former marina that was there many years ago. I have fished the banks and caught a few small bass and some bull heads, but nothing to brag about.

I've fished that place several times. It's about 30ft deep with steep banks. I've never had issues or hassles about fishing from the kayak or the bank. I've seen several kayaks and jon boats. I've never had good luck. It's been fished a lot, and it seems like every branch has a wad of old fishing line tangled up around it. I was snagging Texas rigs trying to fish the piers.

The river is down quite a bit when I went by yesterday. Still cannot use the kayak launches. For some unknown reason they put them in where they can only be used when the water low. When the water was real high it broke one of the walkways.
Common sense ain't common.
If you do launch there are lots of decent places if you do not mind the mud.

Went down there early this morning. Fished until 10. Nothing. Saw a bunch of gar and the kayak launch is a mess. They need to bulldoze the site and start over. What a mess, I can only assume that they let some elementary students design the takeout who had no idea that the water level fluctuates.
