The roadside restaurant, gas station, that sold, pecan logs, coonskin hats, state spoons-precursor to Bucees. Forgot the name.
Stuckey's When we traveled back when I was a kid stopping at Stuckey's was a big deal. Stuckey’s is back under family control. The granddaughter (or maybe daughter, I can’t recall which) of the founder bought the company back a couple of years ago, and she’s working her tail off to bring it back to what it once was.
Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

Way back when…I thought Pizza Hut was good.
Now, their pizza will render a maggot sick at 100 paces.

Now, their pizza will render a maggot sick at 100 paces. Ours is still excellent.

Bob, ours has a $5.99 all you can eat lunch…just across from a university…and it is always empty. Even college kids won’t eat it.

Luby's Cafeteria. Great place to eat back in the day. Loved going through the serving line and seeing all of that food. At the end of the line were the deserts. Those were the days. Cafeterias became a thing of the past when the younger generations started to take over. When I was a kid, Luby's was a treat. My Dad would take us there at least twice a month. Usually on a Sunday. I continued taking my sons there as they were growing up. Lubys hasn't changed. Same old. Made from scratch food. Desserts are mostly made in house but some of the things were prepped in Houston and delivered biweekly.

Furrs was another great cafeteria place that I enjoyed. Loved their Mac N Cheese as a kid. We ate there often when my grandparents moved down here.
Brinkers owns Chilis and Maggianos now. What was the other place that went out of business? Italian and had the warm Focaccia bread. Last time I ate there was years ago and there was gnats flying everywhere and the food was terrible. They owned lot of places over the years, Macaroni Grill is another they controlled and Rock Fish for a hot minute. Big Bowl was a chinese place they tried to get going I think they ownws 50% of a place called Bonefish??? On The Border started downward in 94-97. They start getting stuff made for them and shipped in...

I have heard ads for them on John Boy and Billy's The Big Show.

I didn't know they were still around. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner at ours in '92 and it closed a couple years later.

Taco Bueno has gone downhill the last few years. They have downsized all over to get back to the old school taste. It’s getting better.

Around these parts Bueno is considered gourmet mexican fast food. It's either that or taco hell, I would give my left nut for A Taco Cabana or Rosas.

Chili’s 1988 Took Chili off the menu and homogenized. Then had a miserable failure at serving breakfast. Tried to please everyone while disappointing most. Chili's on Greenville Ave the original location I thought was really outstanding. From that point on the decline started IMO

Whataburger. Sold to yanks. I’ll probably get out in timeout for saying it but I’ll say it anyway. Whataburger was never good. I think it was good but the best I remember was the late 70"s to late 80's...beyond that ..meh
