Just moved back to Rockwall after 5 years in SC. Had a place on Cedar Creek for 5 years or so and know that lake pretty well.
I am Planning to go to Tawakoni for the first time and would appreciate any pointers. I do not know anything about this lake other than it is fairly close to home.
I would imagine the techniques would be the same as CC but any tips on areas to fish would be greatly appreciated.

Safety first. Lots of timber. Get a map and know those areas. A few shallow points as well. Wind can be tough on that lake too.

As far as fish, most of the main points south of 2 mile bridge hold fish. There are some humps out from the old holiday marina that are popular. If you look at a map you’ll see them on the southwest part of the lake. I fish there a couple times a month and try to avoid the boat shows. There are plenty of fish on that lake. Been fishing there for 20 years now and never really had a bad trip. Just an off day here and there.

I have gps and maps to stay clear of the timber.

South of 276 the timber is in the middle of the lake. West bank is clear a fair way out. I don't run the east side much but timber is closer to the bank. Search the posts in this section. Someone posted a good map a while back. I will start at Finger tomorrow.

Some of the more popular places are the humps and points such as Wolf Cove humps, Sun Point, Wind Point, Finger Point the Greenville Pump Station which is just north of the 2 mile bridge on the east side. Under the 2 mile bridge can be good and is a nice break in the shade. The middle of the lake is solid trees, which have all broke off just under the surface. Stay near the shore everywhere south of the 2 mile bridge. The eastern edge of the trees runs pretty much from Sun Point to Gum Cove, if memory serves me right. I marked it back in the 1990s when the lake was about 16' low, however my GPS died and I have lost all the way points. From that line to the dam is open water.
Starting roughly at the Greenville pump station and north from there is another forest of submerged trees. You should be able to run within 1/2 mile north and south of the 2 mile bridge and parallel to it. I am not familiar with anything north of the 2 mile bridge, but I know a lot of that area is solid trees. Use what I said with a grain of salt and always use caution. I have a crude map, but don't know how to post pictures to this site.

Paul thanks for the advice we went south all the way to the spillway. Fished near the dam and caught four sandies there. We fished the shoreline on the west side of the lake and caught a couple nice largemouth bass. I looked on my gps and saw some humps that ere around 10 ft with drop offs to almost 40 feet. The wind was pretty strong so I used a wind sock to slow down the drift and we got into some big stripers and hybrid. All in all it was a pretty good day. Planning to go back pretty soon.

That’s awesome! Tawakoni is addicting. I drive 90 minutes to get there and past a lot of other lakes.

Took five out of town guests yesterday. Dam dam good lake! Found good fish at community holes again. One hr drive fur me also but well worth it
