Progressive has quoted my a policy on a boat I am buying of $171 per year with $500 deductible.

They agreed to hold the value of the boat at $21,000 for 5 years.

Seems like a good deal to me but I wanted to see what other policies might cost.

A little late to this one, but I also use Progressive through USAA. I also found out that you can insure your tackle as well.

I have USAA and recently got a quote of $800 for a year for 40k agreed upon value via progressive through USAA. Seemed a bit high. I am gonna try straight thru progressive to cut out the middle man to try and get a better price. Does the 800 seem high?

I recommend Great American Insurance group. Better coverage benefits for about the same cost or just less as Progressive.

I've been with Progressive for several years through USAA and rates have always been great. I have never had a claim until Monday 23 Aug when I was stuck in the middle of a lake without power. I tried to call Progressive to get in touch with someone that could assist as I have the tow on water rider, but no response after 20 minutes. I finally called USAA for assistance and they finally got a person that I could talk to at Progressive, unfortunately that person could only handle automative road assistance and when she tried to transfer me to a "Watercraft" specialist I was disconnected. Now I'm really frustrated when a fellow boater came by to assist by towing me to the dock, very thankful. I was glad I wasn't on Amistad or Falcon. Just be careful with Progressive.

Yep, I had house, truck, and boat with Safeco. When Safeco increased the boat insurance by almost $200 to over $600 I called my agent and said you better fix that. I ended up with Progressive for boat only at about 1/2.
