Shoulda stayed in bed. Soaked baits for 6 hours and couldn't buy a bite. Must have snagged 12 or 15 times. Went through a lot of tackle. Nuts!

Me and you must be related some how Tim! We tend to have the same kind of days amigo! We were getting smoked the first half of our trip too. We had lots of issues today as well. Cast net issues, tangled drift socks, unruly kid, tangled lines, and fish didnโ€™t want to bite either. Usually that cloudy wind with rain in the area is a guaranteed barn burner this time of year but thatโ€™s fishin amigo! Your starting to get spoiled with all that success youโ€™ve been having. Just remember this my friend, there was a time not to long ago where these kinds of days happened to us often. Every angler gets there tail handed to em from time to time and today was our turn.

Chris, I feel better knowing you had a bad day too. Makes me sure that I wasn't just floating around like an idiot! Hey, that's why they call it fishing and not catching, right? Serj, Days like this do not discourage me. If anything they make me look forward to the next opportunity to get out on the water. I appreciate the support brothers! Hoping to get another chang=ce to get out there this long weekend. Not today though. The nucklehead flotilla will be out in full force.

Found shad easy yesterday afternoon. Soaked for several hours, lots of snags. Managed one 5lber. But the fireworks were beautiful.

The one we caught was around 9pm, 14ft depth along the old riv chanel.

I wanted to get an early start Saturday so we could get off the water before the holiday troublemakers got out there. We went Friday afternoon and gassed up the boat and caught bait. Shad were EVERYWHERE! The big shad, 10" +/- were all over the place. Made me think we were gonna have a good day yesterday. Sadly, that was not the case. realmad

I struggled this morning. Found bait easy at daylight. Marked fish, but could not get it going. Moved, marked fish, only couple bites.
Moved, marked fish. Nathan a 4 lb eater quick, thought here we goโ€ฆ 30 minutes later only 1 more bite.

Jet fleas and wake boards were playing by 10:30 and we called it.

Traded rods for a tube for the boys for a while .

Fried fish for lunch!

Happy 4th everyone!

Ken.

I'm not surprised that the fishing was tough this weekend but don't blame yourself. The solunar tables predicted poor conditions. I am a firm believer in the sun, moon, and tides. Much of my hunting and fishing success comes from being in the right place at the right time.
