Fished yesterday with buddies Jeff and Steve. Our goal was to mark new brush piles due to some of our old ones has been washed away due to past heavy rains. We found plenty of sunfish (Bluegill) in shaded areas and under overhanging tree limbs. We did manage some crappie but our production was down about 75 percent. Crappie were caught in dock slips 12 feet of water, and by ledges in 15 feet of water. Picked up a few on brush piles in 12 feet of water. Sunfish were caught on Gulp Alive Leaches using a drop shot. Crappie were caught on jigs Chartreuse/Black. All fish were released. It was great getting on the water with the three of us. Work schedules make it hard to plan fishing trips. coolio

Side Note: Do you have side scan? If so what type are you using?

Thanks Chuck and Gitter Done for the replies. Chuck: Have not seen any Rios and have only caught a couple this year. Got a feeling that a bunch died off due to the winter freeze. I have fished several coves that normally have good numbers of Rio in them. Nothing this year. Let's hope for a comeback. Gitter Done: Only have a graph on my kayaks. My friend Steve who has the boat does have side scan. woot

Thanks Curtis. I have not caught many Rios this year as compared to all other past years. I have also not seen as many as years past. I do think that the freeze played a factor and the Rios will make a good comeback in years to come. Thanks for the reply. thumb

It’s rough when work gets in the way, but at least we have the opportunity to get out there, work and earn. I never noticed how crappie will follow the shade around docks until I got over here in Delaware. Y’all stay safe and stay getting on em when you can!
