Hmmm. Not doubting your word but why in the world would anyone care about you fishing in the discharge now? There is nothing discharging now. There is nothing going into the intake either. The old "we don't want fishing line to get hung up in the pumps" is not a factor now.

Because they can, it's still posted as no trespassing, and most importantly it's way less paperwork and headache than dealing with drunk recreation boaters.

What about that water access law…if you can get there from a public water space without setting foot on private land, blah blah blah.

Sounds like the fishing is REALLY GOOD on the bridge.

Two of my buddies got $300 tickets each about a month or so ago....so it's real.

Oh, I believe you! I just don't know what is being protected. That's what it is all about at these on water power plants. Protecting the plant. There is no plant. There is no nuclear reactor to steal uranium. It is (or had been) being dismantled. It's like protecting a ghost town.

Be safe,

Sure it has more to do with liability. Somebody gets out of their boat and gets injured on the land and then sues Luminent saying it should have had the old plant blocked off. You can't really blame them the way lawsuits rain down these days. I get these dudes wanting to "inspect" my roof. And I'm like "are you out of your mind?" thinking I'm going to let somebody up on my roof I don't know is bonded and then sue me when they fall off their ladder. Same concept.

Since Luminant still owns the lake ... TP&W lease the other side and we are allowed on the lake.. You can't go beyond the barriers at Squaw Creek either.. No different..

Last time I was there you couldn't get under the discharge fence anyway, with the water up unless you had a kayak or small john boat. It is posted and they have cameras on it.

All those excuses y'all mention sound good and I tried to use a variation of them with the game warden and the judge. It didn't work, $347 all in. I was joking and told the clerk the fishing was almost worth the fine. She laughed and said the next ticket would be a criminal trespass and would cost me $1500.

Honestly, I don't know why the restrict boats from fishing in there. The warden said it was still private property. Regardless, I think they should focus more on DUI boat drivers and less on fishermen.

Had a couple of buddies get tickets in there a couple of days after I fished it. Fishing was good. Glad I didn’t get ticket. Game Wardens doing their job but they should go to Fayette and deal with those damn cast netters before they totally ruin that tremendous lake!
