![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2021/07/full-115968-102017-lavon_flatty.jpg) My son sent me this. This is his buddy JD with a great flathead he caught yesterday on Lavon. I asked my son for details and he said he didn't have any. I said WHAT!? you send me that kind of picture with no details. The lake record is 55 pounds and I bet that thing is close. How did he catch it? What did it weigh? Where on the lake? Bait? etc. etc. Nothing. Mind you he works at night so this conversation took place at 3:30 this morning. By the time it was over I was awake. That's an awesome fish

Big one. It looks close to a record catch. Awesome fish and congratulations to JD! Side Note: There is also no Catch & Release Record for a Yellow Cat for Lavon. If that fish was 45 inches or longer it could have been the C&R record. All the angler would have needed to do is get a picture of the fish's length and a picture of him holding fish. Complete the records application and send it into TPW. No matter what he does it is still a GREAT catch!

I don't know about the catch and release record but the TPWD lake record listed for Lavon is 55 pounds set in 2011 think. I'm interested in the C&R record. All you need is a length and a photo?

Check out the Jr lake records while your at it Tim. There are quite a few that are easily obtainable for Wyatt. You’ll need to get your scale certified every year so that your catches can be certified. One of my scales is down at Nichols scales in Dallas getting certified as we speak. We’ve broken a ton of different records on our boat over the years and I never really cared to certify any of them until my son started catching them. Im going to start certifying his records from here on out.

My good scale found it's way to the bottom of the lake thanks to my Texas Tornado, aka Wyatt. I need to get a new one and get it certified. Been looking at the Whisker Seeker 110 pound capacity for $40. Chris, where do you send yours to get certified?

I had a set of Certified Boga Grips that got Texas Tornadoed by Jaxon a couple of years ago and are at the bottom of the lake. I know all about fishing with a little Texas twister Tim! I have several of the Whisker Seeker scales and they are good scales for catfish. I took my scale to Nichols Scales in Dallas. Took em 5 days to complete. I’m picking mine up today. Most scale calibration companies will certify the scales so I would find the closest one to you.
