Just say no on the board walk. Don’t get in the water at the beach. Cabo wabo meh at best. Eat at solomons on the board walk.

Captain Tony's has really good seafood. The ocean fishing guide that took us out fishing had a deal with Captain Tony's where we took them our catch and the restaurant cooked what we caught. I thought that was kind of cool. The food there was excellent.
I remember The Office on the Beach having a really good breakfast. I agree that Cabo Wabo was just okay. The Giggling Marlin on the other hand was wild. We stayed at the Villa del Palmar. It was fine, but if I ever went back I'd probably look at staying somewhere else. I really think staying at an all-inclusive resort is the way to go.

Strong undertow in most beach areas. Stay out of the water. We've been there several times - July and August are hotter there than here!
Oh, and stay away from the drug cartel guys!!!

we stayed at the Hilton. It's not all-inclusive, but it's all by itself, and we were on my wife's company's dime so cost didn't matter to us. It was really nice, and no problems with drugs or other problems you get in town. It was about a $10 cab ride to the marina to go fishing or do other in-town things. Like others said you can't get in the water due to the undercurrent. But there was a small section of the beach there that had a natural rock barrier so it blocked the undercurrent. That gave you about 100 yards of beach where you could get in the water.

And you can get anything you want at the Black Hole. Went on a business trip there once and a guy comes up to us as we were walking by and states "you want marijuana, coke, ludes, girls, little boys, anything you want I can get you".

food was excellent at both.
