I had a need to scratch that blue cat itch yesterday afternoon. So about 4:00 my daughter and I headed out for Lavon. Caught us a handful of 8 - 10 inch shad and went North. Thermocline was gone. marked fish on the bottom so we set up to drift. Started getting bit right away and boated a few nice eaters. Nana was telling us we needed to get home for supper so we decided we would reel em up about 6:15. Just for fun, after I had broke off on a snag, I re-rigged with a 10/0 triple threat and a whole shad. Cut the tail off so he would bleed. What do ya know, that rod gets bent over hard and we land an 18 pounder. Not exactly a toad but a quality fish. While we're getting her off the hook, another rod goes down with about a 12 pounder. Both looked to be spawned out and feeding up. I told my daughter we should go catch some more bait and stay. But she had to study and they were waiting on us for supper so we reeled em up and headed for the marina. I don't know a better way to spend a few hours with my baby girl than that.

Both of these fish looked a little thin. I think they were post spawn and I hope this is a sign of things to come. If the forecast for the wind stays true, the thermocline shouldn't be a problem. I hope that means we can keep drifting the flats and picking up these quality fish as they begin to feed up coming off the nests...

Mister Tim that 18-pounder sounds like a toad to me awesome taking your daughter fishing!!.... I have one picture of me and my daughter with a catfish and that is it I am hoping to change this with my grandson and granddaughter LOL😜😋
