Saturday tournament fishermen fishing all day very close to release point of a Wednesday workingman tournament? Not illegal for sure. Unethical perhaps? Not judging, just wondering what everyone thinks.

I see no problem with it at all. I thought it was common practice among a lot of anglers....

Isn’t the point to find fish and catch them? I don’t see a problem at all. I’m not even sure they’d be there at the ramp Saturday after a Wednesday tournament, but maybe they are. Did these guys clean up fishing this way?
If we start considering something like this unethical, then fishing summer patterns during summer tournaments would be unethical. Find fish. Catch fish. That’s the name of the game.

It’s common, even at the professional level. Remember the Sabine and I think it was Neely Henry or maybe Pickwick tournaments this year? Bass announcers said it many times, anglers fishing by takeoff because that’s where all the fish are released.

Speaking only as a Joe and not a Pro, I personally wouldn't bet my whole tournament on trying to catch fish that just got caught a few days before. But if someone cracks that code, good for them.

I think the biggest myth in fishing is that a caught fish is unequivocally harder to catch. I’ve seen the same fish caught over and over again.

I have no problem with it... Here on the Ohio River there are 6 ramps (on my pool) in creeks and they all have week night tournaments. Should those 6 creeks be off limits during other tournaments???... Dan

Very common. It’s usually a last resort, but it has salvaged a day for me before.

I think the biggest myth in fishing is that a caught fish is unequivocally harder to catch. I’ve seen the same fish caught over and over again. Lots of studies on this have been done. Some fish seem to be genetically predisposition to be caught over and over again. These are um... dumb fish I guess. Others seem to have the opposite genetics. Very difficult to catch, once they are caught they are even harder to catch on that same lure. One study I remember reading about looked at bass in a pond. Each fish in the pond was tagged when it was caught and assigned a number. One of the fish was caught 17 times in a single summer. At the end of the year they drained the pond. 80% of the fish in the pond had been caught at least once. 20% had never been caught at all. (I could have these numbers slightly wrong, but you get the gist)
