I am 6' 6" and a shade north of 300. Like a lot of people, I was duped years ago into believing that a firm tempurpedic foam mattress was the "beat all end all" and would last me 12-15 years. I bought the firmest one available at the time and paid almost 5 K for it in 2013 and it lasted about 6 months before I was needing mountain gear to climb out of bed in the morning. It got bad quick, but never got to the point to where it HURT me until now.

I had no clue there were mattresses made for big people until the past few weeks and I have done a lot of research. I have learned that the entire "foam" bed industry is targeted at people 230 lbs and below.

I was just curious if any of you have any experience with any of these brands? All of them are between $1200-$2500 for a King and have awesome warranties and trial periods. All are coiled with some type of foam on top of the coils. If you are a big guy and have one of these mattresses, gimme a comment or two!! Thanks

We also tried all sorts of fancy high dollar mattresses and ended up with a Restonic standard mattress with a topper built in. It's about seven years old now and we know it time to swap it out. They are made in TN and cost about a grand. Neither of us would be classified as small. Foam was just too hot.

No need to spend more than 1500 and swap em out every 7 or 8 years.

A waterbed will last until it leaks. For me that was twenty or more years...........or until you wash the sheets and leave it exposed to a cat.

Firm or cushy depending on the amount of water you put in it.

My wife wanted a new bed and we had pulled ours down getting the inside of the house painted and floored so we just recently got a purple bed. Its comfy but we've only had it a couple months.

I’m big like that too. I just built a huge sandbox in the middle of my bedroom and collapse into it at night like a walrus does while napping on the beach.

I’m only 6’3” and now a svelte 211lbs down from 315 so not quite as hard on furnishings as I used to be but I have been very satisfied with Costco’s furniture. The selection is limited but the couches, mattresses and chairs are all heavy duty and holding up well so far they sell good stuff. Best thing is the store return policy if you aren’t satisfied even years later they will make it right well worth the membership and it has made my purchasing of items like this a lot less stressful.

Get a top of the line Costco box mattress, I paid 1200 for mine, California King. I have had it 4 years now and it sleeps like new. They come with a one year warranty if you want to bring it back.

We aren’t too hard on a mattress but if I can get the wife at that perfect level of intoxication we can ruin a headboard and have to repaint a wall in one nights work.

I’m kinda big, over 6-3 about 240. I use 4 inch memory foam over a decent mattress. Get the topper for around $100 every two years. Works for me, I don’t notice the heat issues that others talk about

Our latest one, Vera Wang by Serta, has lasted a long time but it is to the point it needs to be replaced.

My wife and I have looked at the Sleep Number Beds and she wants one of them but wants to wait until the floors have been redone if we can ever find someone that wants to show up and do a job. realmad

I am only 6' 7" 270 though. peep

I'm also oversized. Sleeping used to kill my back. We have a tempurpedic mattress. I also had a King's Down before that. The Kingsdown definitely was better for my back.
But what actually fixed my back was getting rid of the box spring and replacing it with a Metal Platform Bed Frame. Back pain all but eliminated while sleeping. A Queen size on Amazon is $120 for a heavy duty one. We're still using the same tempurpedic mattress.

Ima big guy myself. We had a Firm traditional Cantwell mattress for years, made in Corpus Christi. It is still as firm as the day we bought it, but it has been put in a spare bedroom now.

Currently we are over 2 years into a Wink Bed Plus. It is made for big guys like me. It has been Outstanding to say the least.

We almost pulled the trigger on the Big Fig, which is made to support 1000 pounds, but together, we aren't half that and it is pricey.

Big here also, 6'5" 340 pounds. We had our mattress made by Texas Mattress Makers about 3 years ago and it is by far the best and most comfortable one we have ever owned.
