I had Ted and his father-in-law Frank out on Lake Palestine for the first time.
These guys where excited about going on a trip. And was ready to put a whooping on some crappie.
And that they did, after we battled through a wind storm and some rain. And add a stubborn bite in there to go along with it. But we got the job done and they where pleased with there catch.
The smack talk got real deep with these two all day. They had me rolling in the boat. Thanks guys for giving me the opportunity to be your guide for the day. Enjoy the fish fry!!!!
Let’s talk about what’s going on right now. The fish are definitely in there summertime pattern now. And there are numbers of fish on a tree in spots. Something I’m not a big fan of but it happens.
This time of year you better be covering some water if you’re looking for numbers of fish. This is what make us so successful. Especially this time of year. I fish fast and aggressive more than most people do. But it’s my style of fishing and it put numbers in the boat consistently. And that’s my job as a guide.
This time of year there are going to be a lot of fish that aren’t going to bite. That doesn’t mean you can’t catch a lot of fish, you just have to know how to fish for them. A lot of them are going to reject the bait, and I mean any bait small or big. I don’t care what you are fishing with or colors. There are going to be fish that don’t want any part of it.
It reminds me of Jesus telling his disciples in Mathew 6th chapter. To go out and preach the gospel the good news. Jesus told them to go into the city’s and preach and if the people don’t receive you or the word dust your sandals off as you leave and move on to the next city. Don’t sit there and beat them over the head with a word.
This is the same way I fish. Present the bait to them a couple times, if they don’t want it or receive it move on to the next tree. I promise you them fish that don’t bite, aren’t gonna fill the cooler up!!🤷♂️ now this takes a different mindset but works. Hope this helps some people out.
Fish caught on more submerged timber in 18 to 28 foot of water. It most fish suspended at 10 to 18 foot deep.
Fish caught on my hand tied jigs in 1/8 oz chartreuse in black and what I call gold dust ( gold color with a squirrel tail).
Great are you Lord!!!
