Hey guys,
I'm thinking about renting my 2006 Ranger Bass Boat 20' boat with a 200hp out for the summer on Lakes like Athens or other "Non Stumps" Lakes.... Has anyone had experience doing this? Pro's/Con's? It seems like renting it one weekend a month would basically pay the full payment of the boat..

Also I have a 2016 Toy Hauler Motorhome, I'm thinking of putting out on a lake as well so if someone was visiting Texas they could have a package deal... I really think it would be great on Fork but not sure I want people running around full throttle without knowing the lake... (aside from liability and boat damage which both come with the territory) Love to get others feedback on renting your boats, what websites you used to list them, how did it work, Did you deliver the boat? did they pick it up drop it off? what did you provide inside? Did you actually make enough for it to be worth it? other things that might be a plus or hindrance.

After doing Airbnb for a while. I realized I had to give up my Fri/Sat evening to do laundry and "flip" the unit...got old quick, so if anyone knows any Airbnb cleaners near Athens or Fork please send them my way too.

TIA.

Sounds too risky to me. Renters are going to abuse it and you probably have to have other insurance to cover the boat if it is being used as a business plus some liability insurance because if someone gets hurt they are going to try to find a way to sue the owner.

Most of the yearly rental RV spots that I have checked out at Fork seem to require you to be present with guests and don't allow you to rent it out.

I don't think so, Tim. You could prolly expect to salvage out the boat after the first summer of renting. And you're still paying on a 15yr old boat?

Most if not all Personal boat insurance policies exclude coverage when considering renting out your boat for a fee. Personally, I would never ever consider doing this.

Consult with your agent and ask the question they are your best source.

Even your grandmother become Mario Andretti and does donuts in the parking lot when sheโ€™s in a rent car! Think about that.

I'd rent out a basstracker type boat but not a glass boat. I have a buddy who rents out several pontoons on lake Travis. He gets $750 for 4hrs and stays booked April through September. He does well...

Let's not forget about the crazy amount of insurance you'd have to get to be able to legally do that.

I agree with this sentiment. I'd consider if I had an older boat that was paid for (or as a second boat). But I'd never rent out my main boat especially if I still had it financed....

Or the lengthy contract, waivers that wont protect you anyway that you would need a lawyer to draw up and the formation of an LLC which once set up is additional accounting. Then let's say you do all this and you have a booking and one of the idiots tears boat up. You just gonna cancel next booking cause you only have one boat????? Here is what I'm actually hearing when I read this, you have payments, maybe things aren't going well. Just sell the stuff and get out of the payments cause if they tear it up you will still have payments and a torn up boat and possibly toy hauler that will then be worth nothing. Just my 2 cents........
