I struggled with this one a bit wasnt sure if I would even give a report on it as I did not want to appear negative in any way toward someone. Thats not my deal. But I will just tell you what I observed. I went out with Chad Morgenthaler on Saturday. We met after the storm passed he didnt have much to say. Just went about his business. He caught a keeper early on a chatterbait then went to flipping a tube. He would mix in a few casts with other baits but mostly the tube. About 3 hours later he threw the chatterbait again and caught a 3.5 pounder made a few more cast then back to the tube. He stuck to the tube the rest of the day and never caught another keeper. Doesnt talk much maybe hes just really focused or just wasnt in the mood, and thats fine, I get it. It was pretty hot out there, made for a long day.

He's that kind of personality. You aren't negative in your comment at all brother! Glad you got the experience!

Yeah, I think everyone is kinda different. They can’t all be James Watson or Mark Zona.

I ran into him at the ramp at Fork when they were pre-fishing back in April. He wasn't much for conversation then either. However, you would think a guy might stick with a bait that is actually catching keepers a little longer.

Maybe he just wasn't one of the "Everything was we with him so he made me feel like I was part of the team!" types. Lots of people in the world are introverted and do not do the "yay yay go team" deal.

Thanks Champ for sharing your experience! When you say he stuck with a tube, is this what you mean? I've never fished tubes.[Linked Image]

That would have been EPIC
Marshal - “over or under?”
CM - “excuse me?”
Marshall - “TP ..... over or under?”
CM - “bro.... WTH ARE YOU TALKIN ABOUT MAN?”
Marshall - “TOILET PAPER!.... over or under? Which do you prefer?!”
CM - mumbles “I hate having Marshals. I’m getting ear plugs”
Marshal - “it’s actually a really important question “
CM - just stares .... turns and casts while shaking head

I bet it would kinda go like that

I’ve fished them open water or maybe around rocks..... never flipped. Was it rigged Texas rig?

Good luck pitching that into the bushes. I’m going to say it was Texas rigged.

He Texas rigged it and skin hooked the hook. It was a Gambler tube in green pumpkin.

Different strokes for different folks kind of thing. Some anglers can be very high strung, like a rat on speed. Some are like a bear in the winter and hibernate into their own world.

I was with him on the official practice day and he was awesome. Very chatty walked me through everything he did. Joked around all day. I am sure a lot of them have different personalities on tournament day. Don’t take it personally. A lot of them are the same way.
