Any reviews?

Hot weather is here and I've got a lake close by that has a lot of docks that I can fish for couple of hours and come home. Thinking of getting one and learning how to skip and beat the heat.

I haven't seen any reviews on them specifically.

I was thinking I would pick one up and then someone mentioned that Daiwa makes one as well.

Still haven't gotten one but it is on the list of things to get when I catch them on sale! cheers

Doubt it goes on sale, they can't keep them in stock, everytime I go looking for them they are out.

I have the daiwa Elite P/F but I don't think it's great for skipping.

I’ve had one for about 5 months now and love it. The 40 yard spool (with 20# flour) makes skipping a lot easier. I tried laying tape down on the spool on other reels to stop backlashes, but now you dont have too, plus it has the power to handle heavy line. Great reels if you can get your hands on one.

I dont do a bunch of skipping but I wanted one for docks so I got the Kastking version and it works well, no spool overrun when skipping, easy to setup and use...plus it was cheap, so far no issues with it.

Yup there is a short supply of them. Can't find one in a store anywhere around me.

Skipping a bait under a dock is an art.

It’s tough. That’s why I do It with a spinning reel! Lol

I love Lews reels and have a bunch of them but I like the Daiwa reel made for skipping better than the Lews. Any Daiwa Tatula SV TW works great for skipping.

I agree with this 100%. I can skip with pretty much any of my Lews, but the Tatula is way more forgiving. You’ll want to have a pretty fast tip rod too. Makes it easier, but practice is the key. I spent my lunch hour for about 3 straight months learning to skip. It pays to also learn to skip backhanded too. Good luck with whatever setup you get. It’s a blast once you get the hang of it.

Just curious what's the best way to practice skipping off the water? I spent plenty of time pitching int he back yard but would love to work on my skipping some too
