I was locked and loaded....but im not gonna float all the money for a new head unit in addition to the live. Kinda bummed out. Makes sense about people wanting to see trees......cuz it looked like they were open water...and im kinda doubting they were. Landscape was good...but the rest did look pretty black

Garmin has the live game locked up and nothing the other two can do about it.

Doesn't look any different than the lowrance active target. Very big let down for all the hype and waiting

Yep. I have Active Target. It kinda sucks. But....like a Hydrowave, it’s the “intimidation factor”. Everyone says “he only caught cause the live scope!” Hahaha.

I think they will sell one to most HB owners, it’s not horrible, it’s just not impressive either.

My thoughts exactly. I may still end up getting it but I'm not running to pre-order based on that footage. You have to assume that Garmin is coming close to their next generation of live while the other two companies are still trying to get their legs under them.

Based on the video alone, I would say the Mega Live is in 3rd place compared to Garmin - Lowrance...

Require a whole lot of luck...

If I were thinking about getting one (any of them) I wouldn't be jumping through hoops to buy the HB at least not right now.

If I had been holding out for the Mega Live to come out and it turns out no better than what I have seen I would go ahead and buy a Garmin even with having ot add another display. cheers

If it turns out to be no better than what is looks like on those videos I would agree with that 100%! thumb

With Garmin getting ready for V3 and Lowrance already working on V2 HB is way behind the 8 ball.

In layman terms the Garmin is heading toward 8K, Lowrance has Blu-Ray out and working toward 4K, and HB has just released their 1st DVD player. gumshoe

what worries me.....id think theyd put their best foot forward with the initial videos and pictures. I wonder if this is as good as its gonna get.

Id never admit any company is better than Humminbird when it comes to freshwater fishing......but if its not better than this, HB has to take the L when it comes to live imaging. Im not sure id say lowrance's looks better....but it seems like a noticeable gap/drop from first(Garmin) to second/third and 2nd and 3rd(HB and Lowrance) are neck and neck and brand loyalty/current set up will be the determining factor for those not wanting to add a whole new screen.

Simply my opinion but HB has been falling down the latter the last few years. The images are good but to me they lack functionality of others. This doesn't look to promising but you never know. If they can beat the dead spots and ghost tree then even if the image is the same it will be a little better product. It's a good option for people with birds.

As a New livescope owner this is less than impressive. I was super worried with my purchase that I would regret it once humminbird finally dropped theirs. This release video makes me feel better.

I replaced every graph I had from lowrance to garmin. I couldn’t be happier.

They haven't officially said anything about it but just watching their company they are sitting on their hands hoping nobody comes out with anything better! thumb

They have come a long way in the last few years and are no longer an afterthought for anyone looking for quality equipment! bannana2

Yea when i was shopping a couple years back I still think HB was head and shoulders above the rest and it was the best....but I hear Garmin mapping is better nowadays, then throw in live and there is definitely an argument for garmin taking the lead now. I still think mega SI is wayyy better than anything out there....but for how far all these units have come, even the ones that arent the "best" are way more than you need to clearly see what your scanning under your boat and I dont think you miss anything on say lowrance SI for example.....and im speaking from firsthand experience. i have a Ti2 with the 3 in 1 ducer and that is THE best bang for your buck unit out there (probably why lowrance discontinued it LOL). Ive tested side by side....and yea the bird is a little crisper, but you 100% do not miss anything on the lowrance, and its only a Ti2, not even the HDS.

So yea, I think the 'birds aint the best out there anymore 🤷‍♂️
