I finally got a chance to take the boat out yesterday and try out the new Garmin trolling motor. It took a few minutes to calibrate everything. Once I got all that done it worked flawlessly. I’m so impressed with this thing! It’s silent running, it does make a whir noise if you turn it really fast, but it’s silent turning slow, it’s very powerful, the heading and anchor modes work great, the foot pedal works better than my last two cable steer units did, and the remote is amazing. I had read about the foot pedal having a delay because it is wireless, but mine doesn’t at all. After the bad experience with the Motorguide tour pro I was concerned that I wouldn’t be happy with any of the new trolling motors. I’ll post again after I get some more hours on it, but so far I couldn’t be happier.

I got one and had it out Monday for the first time. The power it has is crazy.. I gain 1.5 miles mph when on high.. I had the ultrex and it was good but the force is a best. Also deploying it is so easy..

What was the bad experience you had with the new MG tour pro?

It wouldn’t get gps signal in cloudy weather, the anchor mode would let me drift off my spot 15-20’, and it was very noisy. If it was on 3 or higher the person in the back of the boat could hear it running.

Call Cabelas or Bass Pro and have them locate one for you. You can buy from any store in the country and they’ll ship it to you. Mine came from Colorado Springs. Shipping was $35.
