I am wanting a 4 to 6 inch swim bait to work in 2-8 ft of water. Mostly for ponds. I have no idea where to begin. Color, weight, size. I want to be able to fish it like a 1/2 oz spinnerbait.

Lot of great choices above. Don't see any you can go wrong with, and a lot I know I hope to try one day. Personally my confidence bait is just a 4.8 keitech in pro blue or electric shad on 4/0 owner weighted beast hook. Will switch up for a flashy swimmer when want to add more thump if water is murky. If you go this route switch out the centering pin on the hooks from a medium to a large. The bait lasts a lot longer, and inexpensive purchase in the long run with the amount of fish you can catch on one bait.

im literally just getting into this myself, so take this with a grain of salt. The lunkerhunt fetch looks good in water. Ive only thrown it a couple hours in total tho...but it does look good in the water on a flashy swimmer. Cant stand the brand cuz its mostly hype imo...but ive seen that megabass magdraft in lots of fish's mouths on the facebook groups 🤷‍♂️Id have some myself if they had the color and size I wanted a couple months back. Theyre relatively well priced compared to other soft swimbait stuff out there too...which is shocking for MB!

Fellas, swimbaiting is the way to win tournaments. Once you get your limit and want to catch a kicker, throwing a big hard swimbait can change into a hero. I recommend a Mike Bucca Bull Shad or Bull bream. These lures are heavier also, so a specialty rod is required. As your first hard swimbaits may I recommend a 5" Bullgill or a 6" BullShad 4x4. Every year truckloads of bass are caught on a 5" Bullgill. Many DD fall for one every spring. The 5"Bullgill runs around 1.5 oz. If you have a flipping stick you can use it IF it has a weight range to 2 ozs. The other lure I spoke of is a Bullshad 4x4. This is my favorite Bull Shad, it has a diving lip and can be fished like a square bill. It with crawl over laydowns too. Its weight is around 1.8 -2 ozs. I love these lures. There are many hard swimbaits and some have very expensive price tags. If you can't justify a $50-$100 swimbait you might consider the Catchco 4" Bullshad or Bullgill. They run around $15 ea and are great as an entry-level or introductory swimbait. If any of you fellas are going to the CLASSIC EXPO, I suggest you visit the Bull Shad booth and check these custom-painted lures. Meet Mike Bucca. He lived in Texas years ago and was a long-time guide on Altoona lake in Ga. Even if you aren't a tournament angler and only want to catch big bass swimbaits are your best weapon. Big Bass prefer a large meal as opposed to chase hundreds of small baitfish. I one saw a 5lb bass eat 52 goldfish as fast as they were dropped into his aquarium in one feeding. This occurred in Houston in the 70's. The Megabass plastic swimbait Magdraft has accounted for many big bass too.
