I have two...one that is like the standard vest that I wear when running. Then I have a waist style one, fanny pack, that I wear when I fish alone.
This way I'm covered at all times.

Thanks I have been wearing one just hadnt tested it .wonderin if unconcious if would roll you over on back When I bought my first one...I bought a re-arm kit. Here's why...I jumped into my neighbors pool to test it. I'm 5' 6" and 200 lbs. That's not a good combo as I'm short and stout which means most things don't fit me well. So I tested it out before the water. Here's what I found: Model Onyx A/M24 (BPS branded model) Jumped in...within seconds it armed and scared the [censored] out of me Wrapped my neck like a pillow Floated back down / chest up Head was cradled well I did sit a little lower than I liked, but I think it was because I had it a little loose on the belts Overall I can see it saving my life So I've been using since then...remember to change your arming kit yearly

I wear the 35# while on the water and do not take it off, all are auto/manual.

I love mine. Bought one for my fishing partner too. They are one of the safest out there too as the neck portion would keep your head out of the water if you were unconscious. Also comfortable to fish in in choppy conditions. I bought the Onyx at Academy.

Onyx A/M 24 is what I use. 100% in the cooler months. And while running. Tried mine when I first got it. Works awesome.

2 onyx for me, my son accidentally fell out while drifting. He hit his head hard enough to make it bleed. He was 20 at the time and the blow was so disorienting that he failed to realize he could actually stand up as the depth of water was 5ft and he is 6ft. Kept him floating enough for his wits to come back and by then I had to boat back to him. He never would wear one on his own, but now he does. Can't blame him I had a come to Jesus moment where I dang near flew out of a friends boat who's steering cable broke. It was cold thay day and if I fell in I doubt I would of floated very long. My shoulders were in the water and if it wasn't for the ice chest tangling my foot I would of gone overboard. After that day I always wear a floatation device. Even when I wade fish.

It's as safe as any others when used in the deployed mode, and more comfortable because it is less binding and cooler in the summer, since the inflated bubbles can move around somewhat -in or out of the water. Deployed mode is when you disable the auto function and strap into it, then inflate it using the mouth tube to get the safe personal volume that will keep you at the most comfortable flotation position. l use one of these for travel and for packing in with my Float Tube as they are the most compact and usually the lightest ones. Inflatable PFDs can also provide safety when snorkeling since they can be used submerged when set in manual cord pull mode, which is not possible with a regular pfd.

I use a Mustang HIT version and it is comfortable to wear. I have several Onyx brand ones for everybody else that goes with me and they just aren't as comfortable for me as big as I am. There have been instances where they will "self inflate" if left in the boat, the humidity is too high, or if it is raining.

Not wearing anything else if I can help it. I put one on when launching the boat and don't take it off until the boat is back on the trailer.

They are great, use it all the time like these other guys here. But here's the catch.... This is what the Game Wardens told me last weekend when I was stopped: It is required to be worn at all times to be considered a regulation PFD. If you take it off at any time, you must have another regulation PFD on the boat. So if you buy one, make sure you either wear it at all times, or carry a spare life jacket. https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/...quipment/personal-flotation-devices-pfds
