Hey guys, Checking in from Sorrento, LA and wanted to introduce myself. I briefly lived in DFW about 15-years ago and still make it back out for work at least a handful of times per year. I've been fly fishing since I was a kid, but have really begun to invest more time and effort into the hobby the past few years. Locally, I split my time between reds in the marsh and whatever is biting in the local streams, but at least a few times a year I head for either Colorado or the Northeast to mix things up and chase some cooler/cold water species. Beyond that I do quite a bit of tying and maintain the blog linked in my signature in my free time. Lots of tying tutorials and some field reports for those interested. With work travel becoming a reality again, I'm hoping to spend a little more time fishing the DFW area as well as SE Texas in the coming months. Lots of quality water in both areas I haven't touched in years now. And with any luck, this forum will help me discover some I've never seen before. As I have nothing from TX to share at the moment, I thought I'd share a few pics from this spring for the time being. Way cool blog. If you haven't done it already, on one of your Texas trips you oughta try the Hill Country for Guadalupe Bass and Rio Grande Cichlids, they are the endemic species of Texas and are readily take a fly.

Welcome to the forum. Got a question about your Topwater Chimera fly from your blog. Are the head pieces glued together flat?

Thanks everyone! Way cool blog. If you haven't done it already, on one of your Texas trips you oughta try the Hill Country for Guadalupe Bass and Rio Grande Cichlids, they are the endemic species of Texas and are readily take a fly. A Guadalupe Bass & Rio trip is high on my list. We have an invasive population of Rios down the road in New Orleans, but I'd rather catch both in their native range given the opportunity. Welcome to the forum. Got a question about your Topwater Chimera fly from your blog. Are the head pieces glued together flat? Yep. The head consists of two Foam Spider Bodies. The backside of each body is flat, so I just super glue them together along opposite sides of the hook shank. So far this method has held up to the abuse the local specs and largemouth provide. Chris

Welcome sir! Looking foward to some saltwater posts from La. I see you do some Carp fishing as well. I think you and i would get along just fine. Thank you, Capt. Mac! Hopefully, I'll have some saltwater posts to share soon. Haven't made the drive to the marsh since April, so I'm definitely overdue. As for carp, I'm still learning the ropes, but having a blast doing so. Extremely frustrating at times, but equally rewarding when it pays off. Chris

I've been fly fishing for Carp for twenty five years and this statement is still true.
