Suppose you were able to build your own out of aluminum with a blank set of plans

1/2 Ton 6.5 foot box supercab truck.

Mainly for tournaments or practice , IE after work today if I had one I could sneak down to state park at Tawak and prowl around, crash in my (non existent yet ) camper get up fish all day tomorrow and come home.

I would use the showers at campgrounds or parks , but would want a jon in the camper so I could do my usual 4 times a night pisses (yes I am old) , over cab bed, storage for gen, roof top AC, counter wash basin with drain , can use jugs with petcock on counter for water. Couch/extra bed for added angler if needed, storage bins , awning on back over door, maybe on side. Any cool ideas ?

I’m still looking , too. If you find some plans please let me know. The ones for sale used are way over priced. I’m in the same train of thought. I need an overnight cabin on my truck. I could have even used it at the ER during the last ice storm. I would’ve just stayed there for three nights.

Here’s mine. Weighs as much as a lake house though! We were up @ Broken Bow the other day. [Linked Image]

Those side entries are so nice.

Ronnie, mine will be a guinea pig project. I have a customer that builds high end race trailers and mobile command type trailers etc.

Depending on the investment/potential return they may launch a line of this type of setup.

I used a small slide in for many years that had some nice features. It had a crank up top so it was about 12" over the cab when driving but still could be accessed when folded down. Cabover bed, table with bench seats dropped down to make extra bed. Inverter to run lights and small 12v stuff when plugged into A/C power. Roof A/C with separate power cord. Built in ice box (not ref), propane cooktop, sink with small water tank and 12v pump. Rear outside access to areas behind wheel wells for storage, spare 12v battery etc. Inside access to areas in front of wheel wells for storage. Used a self contained porta-potty that could be slide under the table/bed. Storage under seat benches, drawers under sink, small closet, bench seat with storage across front under window and storage bin above window. 3 camper jacks to lift up and drive out from under it.

Will be interesting to see what you come up with. Problem I’ve seen in the truck camper market is everytime a manufacturer comes up with a newer, lighter(clearly not the route we took), better model they are priced as much as all the truck campers and they have gone out of sight! Anyone thinking they are going to pay less for an “RV” that doesn’t have an axle or a frame under it has not priced truck campers in a long time!

For sure will have inverter setup for lights etc. I also think an exterior slide out "counter" or drawer with a little Coleman camps stove on one side of the rear door to cook outside under rear awning with.

Another thought, mine was 8' in an 8' bed and I removed the tailgate when it was loaded. If it was 2" shorter I could have left the tailgate on and used it as a table and still closed the tailgate. Also with your 6.5' bed you could use an 8' with the tailgate down....

We have an exterior “T” for connecting a stove & grill outside to the campers LP bottles

If it were me I might just buy a older Capri camper and gut it and go custom from there. No need to to reengineer the shell.
