Might be a while but would be great to possibly have a diesel outboard motor only turning 4000 rpm, might be the recipe not to blow at 300 hrs. $50K a bit high right now, but maybe come down if they can ever get a mass market.

Has pros and cons. 50k is more than a bit high for me and the 770+# would take it right out of the bass boat application. But pretty cool nonetheless- thanks for sharing.

Can see this being a hit in the saltwater market with the bigger center consoles they have now. That's a lot of torque!

Right now gas and diesel are close and it’s cheaper than ethanol free. Looks to be more efficient than gas. Also, you need to factor in the power head cost to the per gallon of gas that seems to go on many motors under 500 hours.

If they could drop a few pounds might be an option....

Which motors are prone to blow at 300hrs? I have a 2018 250
ProXS 2 stroke with 266hrs.

The ones that have owners that unnecessarily flog their rig everytime they need to move half a mile

Had a 225 Evinrude sold with 1100hrs and 600hrs on a 225 Opti Pro XS right now. Take care of them and they'll take care of you

Bass fishermen are the absolute worst when it comes to outboard longevity. Fire it up then go WFO before reaching operating temp, go a mile or two then chop the throttle and kill it before it cools down.
Saltwater guys will start it, warm it up, cruise to where there going then let motor run all day. They get on average of 4-6000 hours whereas bass boats 3-400hours.
