Had another awesome trip at Hubbard Creek. The MAL lure is crushing it. I had one buddy on my boat that just kept throwing a slab and intermittently catching fish while me and another buddy were catching whites every cast. He finally switched over to a MAL lure and we brought in three fish at once over and over again to the tune of over 140 fish in 90 minutes. Ended up with around 200 fish with this white bass/channel catfish trip.

Check out Bob Maindelle's MAL lure if you are into white bass fishing! Hybrids love them too! I have experimented making my own lures and just gave up because I don't see how I could build a better mouse trap than Bob did with his MAL lure.

Were you catching fish with Mal-lure in 34 fow and off the bottom ?

I found and caught in 20-42 fow. Most the time I let the lure fall to bottom and reeling it back. A few times they were up higher in the water column and would just retrieve back after letting it sink for 5-7 seconds

Its a really good lake! I stopped fishing phantom very often starting last year due to high boat traffic and bass fisherman tending to think they own that lake.....at least at Hubbard the territory I fish doesn't overlap the bass fisherman's very often so I'm not getting yelled at for stupid stuff by those that own the lake, aka. bass fisherman. I'm still learning the lake and totally lost their pattern when the shad must have been spawning. Tons of acres to cover and I never found where the shad spawned.

Clay, have you been able to catch any shad there?
