Got out this morning and fished the with first mate Action Jaxon. Not many boats wanting to to be out in the big wind and water so we pretty much had the main lake to ourselves until 11. We got bait easy in 37 ft. We didn’t have all day to fish so I decided to look for the sandbass pattern and we finally found some cats with them. We’ve been anchor fishing every trip for the last 3 months but today we headed straight for mid depth structure in the main lake and it paid off. It was a GREAT feeling to finally put the anchors away and break out the ol drift socks .

We marked good fish on the main lake points but the wind was blowing hard out of the East so we moved to the humps. First hump sandbass and no blues so kept on moving. 2nd humps was loaded with sandies and cats so we threw down on em. With all the wind and clouds today the fish were fired up good all morning. We pulled boards through em 2 times and hammered em good. We ended up with 34 eater sized blues and turned em all loose. Sun started popping out at 11 and the Jet Skis started buzzin so we left them biting and headed in. With the clouds today I bet the bite went on strong all day. This mid depth morning pattern should hold up until July.

High Plains Drifter strikes again! Well done Chris. We tried going shallow yesterday way up by the mouth of Wilson Creek. Water was still flowing in strong from recent rains. I thought the pre-spawn fish might still be staging near the mouth of the creek. Caught one about 8 pounds about 10 minutes in and that was it. Moved a couple times in the same general area and came up empty. At one point I was trying to anchor up and bumped into a tree knocking my transducer off the mount. The boat traffic was getting heavy by then, even up past highland park so we called it a day. No more going shallow. I'm with you on the drift patten brother. If I could drift all year long I'd be happy.

He is a real jokester and prankster Nick. Always trying to get a laugh. Tonight he was in his usual Jax wagon kind of mood. We were feeding our pond fish and he said “hey dad watch this!” As he grabbed a handful of pond moss and crammed it in his mouth chewing it up and swallowing it! I asked him how it taste and he said it taste like nothing but that it was crunchy. I told him that crunch we’re the pond snails that live in and eat the moss. He laughed and picked up another handful and crunched it up. He then picked out a snail and crunched it too. He though it was hilarious and i got it on video. Pure greatness! That kid won’t eat a vegetable but he will eat pond moss, snails, and Shad eyeballs.
