Wanted to reach out to this group to see if anyone is willing to be a Captain for my son and his friend for six (one day) tournaments over 2021-2022 school year for the Allen High School Fishing Team.
The schedule is posted on the THSBA website at https://www.thsba.net/assets/assets/pdf/2021_2022_schedule.pdf and they would be in the Metroplex division. You can see most tournaments for their division are within an hour of the Allen area. If they do well enough during the year, there's one additional State tournament for the top invite-only qualifying teams. My Son is going into 9th grade and his partner is going into 10th grade. I would do it if I could, but no bass boat and I'm already committed to the Competitive Shotgun Team with my other Son. We could do some pre-fishing leading up to the tournaments on our fishing pontoon, but it really isn't cut out for competitive bass fishing. They would much rather be on a bass boat and would be willing to join in anytime you might want a fishing buddy, as they are constantly at the neighborhood ponds and asking to hit the lakes. Also, the kids are responsible for gas and would obviously help with prep and cleaning up the boat when finished.
Please comment or PM me with any additional questions.
Thanks, Rhett

Looking at the rules on the THSBA website, it specifies the following:
Liability insurance with coverage of $300,000 is required on all boats used in high school fishing
tournaments. Proof of insurance must be with the boat being used and must cover all passengers in the boat. Random
checks will be conducted. Failure to provide proof of insurance when requested by the tournament director will result
in disqualification.
The full rules can be viewed on their website at https://www.thsba.net/assets/assets/pdf/thsba_rules_2021.pdf.
We would be willing to subsidize part of that insurance cost if necessary to help defray any additional costs to the Captain.

Also, there are additional benefits to the Captains, including side pots, gift cards, merchandise and equipment for placers, especially when you get to the regional and state tournaments. This year's winning team Captain got Power Poles, Yeti Cooler, and Academy gift cards if I'm remembering correctly.
