Since this is a report on our fishing, we post in the report section.

Fished the Port Aransas south jetty Tuesday & Wednesday as the freeze changed our strategy on researching areas post-Harvey to now post Harvey & "The Freeze"

Tuesday fished an stretch that usually has some good trout & other fun fish. Family peeps picked up 2 trout, one a nice 18", a just legal Sheepie, a rat red, (first one in 30 years caught along that area), and the biggest Piggy (pinfish) I've ever seen. Easily 16-"17+" probably close to 2 lbs. Huge. We missed 3-4 more probably trout and saw some action in water that looked like trout.

Overall the action was better than I anticipated/expected for game fish on that stretch for a 2 hour fish, nowhere as good as last few years, but expected that.

Wednesday did the long walk to a redfish alley area way out there towards the end. Used fresh dead shrimp to catch bait, found it hard to get many bait fish at all. 5 piggies & 2 pigfish, (the real piggies). Had one strike on a piggy, other than that no action for large reds. The lack of bait catching was a surprise, expected it to be slow but that was really slow.

Did see new hatches of menhaden/shad being chased so food supply is being replenished.

Walk back in saw a few hardheads caught but not many folks on the jetty.

Note on the south J, they are pouring a topcap of concrete in certain areas to smooth out some of the walk. Some of it is completed others are ready to pour. Be aware of the construction as you might be rock hopping some very uneven granite.

Bigger issue is the 70 year old concrete flat top areas out there are slowly falling into the channel and gets plenty of splashes and some areas are very slippery with little room to walk on secure surfaces. Be safe if getting out where the rocks are wet black or green.

Anyone know if they’ve finished the jetty repair yet.
