14 foot, 80 pound yak. Anyone have any feed back on the various inflatable carrying systems?

Gotta be careful. I've never used inflatable rack but have used those with foam pads. Road debris (sand and small gravel) will get under it and with wind buffeting kayak, it will sand the paint off the roof of you car, fast. You need to put a shower mat with suction cup bottom underneath each one so that it wont happen.. cut mat in half and use each strip. If the rack has straps that go through the inside of your vehicle, know that if its raining, those straps will wick water into your car bigtime. Other than that.. I would trust them.

I don’t guess I thought about sand getting under it. I am going to be taking it 90 miles down the interstate to lake Caddo soon so I know for a fact it will rain most of the time. It always does. The one I’m looking at has the straps that go inside the car, you cinch those down and then air up the cradle so it snugs up real good. I hope it works at highway speeds.

That's a nice one! I'm serious about putting something under those even on short trips... I learned the old fashioned way! roflmao

It came in the mail today. I tried to give it a test run. Got it installed, got the yak cinched down, wanted to run it down the road for a trial. Nope.....I ran all the straps through the open windows and none of the doors would open. I had enough time to get it unhooked and put away to get the grill started for supper. Life is hard, it’s even more difficult when you are stupid.

Carry a towel in your lap if its raining... just in case. Can't tell what the material is that those straps are made of, they may have figured out the water wicking in straps since I last used one.
