Trying to improve the offshore skills this year. How long and heavy a rod are you using to throw deep diving crankbaits, jigging spoons and swim baits? Want to make a purchase and want to make sure I get some advice so I get the right rod for the application.

For deep diving baits like the Strike King 8XD and the 10 XD I use an FXtreme 7ft 8in crank bait rod. I use the Xtreme angler rods and they are under $200.
For medium divers up to the 6XD I use the FXtreme 7ft 6in crank bait rod. This would probably do well throwing spoons also.
For glide type hard baits I use a 7ft 4in FXtreme swim bait rod.
For large 7-9 inch soft swim baits I use a 7ft 9in Falcon Cara.

I have a Dobyns 805 that I used to use for deep cranks but the shorter FXtreme handles a 10XD just fine so I no longer use the 805.
