I like cork and when they get dirty and slick I run warm soapy water over them and brush them out. Back like new.

Seems to depend on the brand. For example Lew's uses mainly winn grips/foam but other brands such as Dobyns use cork on most of their rods.

I don't like the feel.of U40 sealed handles. I leave mine unsealed.

experience with the Winn grips (Castaway rods) is that it sucks.
wears out/off too quick for me.
maybe i just use my stuff too much!!
have already wrapped most with the wrap tape from Bass Pro.
have some older rods with cork that i much prefer, just keep them clean!!
wiping down with denatured alcohol will clean even sunscreen and sweat etc from them and leave them dried out !!


I love the smell of 2 stroke in the morning !!!

I donโ€™t seal. Just wash I warm water as stated. If real dirty a very light scotch brite rub with soap and water.

I have several rods with the winn grips and I really like them. They do not get slick when wet. Some of the foam ones do and some don't depending on what brand of rod it is.
