Heading to Bolivar beach in a couple weeks and want all your secrets.

I take my family to the coast every year and this year is a new spot. Where can I cast for bait? What is the surf and sand bars like? North Jetty? I fished Galveston some and drone fished there for shark, but I'm more familiar with Aransas and Padre.

Lost the drone, can I get bait out far enough for shark without a boat for shark, bull red, or maybe even jacks and macks?

I hadn't fished Bolivar in years. There's a guy around here that runs shark trips on the peninsula, and a running buddy of mine from...ahem...a while ago has caught some pretty big fish.

If you can cast 50-75 yds, standing on the far bar will typically get you a few runs. But you can also rent a kayak, the extra 100-200 yds you get paddling it out will make a bit of difference in the size of the fish you see.

Thanks, I can cast pretty good from shore but standing in chest high water getting pounded by waves shortens my throw. If the weather is right then maybe a kayak would work. Might rent a jet ski instead. I had a bad time running bait out in kayak once.

Is there a place to catch bait other than in the surf?
