I have issues with sea sickness so can’t handle long trip but might consider the 5 and 8 hour trip. Can someone describe what type of fishing does Dolphin Dock do for those 2 trips for mid June. What species do they target and how far does the boat go out. Thanks

I’ve done both of those. The 5 hour in June will probably be a snapper trip where you travel 1.5 hours out into the sea and fish. You will probably not be able to see land. My wife who also deals with seasickness cannot handle a 5 hour. The 8 hour is similar, you just go further out, about 2 hours, and will probably target snapper, but since the limit is so few, you will probably target a few other species once you catch your snapper limit.
That’s what you get with all the Dolphin Docks trips—the time is split evenly between travel time and fishing time. So, if the trip is 8 hours, you have 4 hours of travel (2 hours out/2hours back) is and 4 hours of fishing. Also, you can call them at 800-393-3474 and ask them more about the trips.

Maybe consider one of the boats that just fishes along the jetties? Close to shore and the fishing can be pretty good. I think those trips are only around 4 hours.

The June trips will be mainly red snapper, Atlantic sharp-nose sharks, and king mackerel. If sea sickness is an issue, then pay attention to the wave height. Stay away from anything over 3 feet. Also try taking Bonine before the trip. It does not make you drowsy like Dramamine. Dolphindocks also has a 4 hour trip that fishes the jetties or near rigs if it is calm. I would do the 8 hour over the 5 hour. You will catch more fish and won’t have to deal with as many anglers that don’t know what they are doing. Dolphindocks is a great organization. I have done really well with them.
